About Low Level Laser Therapy

At this time, I am pleased to announce that I have incorporated Low Level Laser Therapy into my practice. Low Level Laser Therapy has been used worldwide for over 40 years to relieve pain, remove scars, heal wounds, regenerate nerves and generally facilitate healing of the soft tissue matrix of the body.

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) causes the body’s tissues– muscle, skin, nerve, etc. – to heal faster; as much as 66% faster according to the one FDA study. Specifically, LLLT works at the cellular level to stimulate the production of a chemical known as ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate) in the cell’s mitochondria. ATP in our body is like gasoline in a car and all of our body’s activities result from the “burning” of ATP. Thus with more ATP at the cellular level, tissues heal faster, and therefore pain relief comes quicker.

As is true of many alternative therapies, one may also receive additional benefits from LLLT treatments beyond the primary area of involvement being treated in the first place. This is because the effect of photo-stimulation is “systemic” meaning that, although we’re focusing the laser on a particular area, the ATP production is ultimately enhanced throughout the entire body. Research in this field is ongoing and the list of conditions responding to LLLT is growing and includes:

  • Acute and Chronic Pain
  • Neuropathy
  • Neck & Back Pain
  • Headaches & Migraines
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Nerve & Disc Pain
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Sciatica
  • Sports Injuries
  • Scars and Scar Tissue
  • TMJ Syndrome
  • Arthritis/Tendonitis/Bursitis

The Erchonia PL5000 Cold Laser is the state of the art cold laser instrument available today…and I have one. LLLT can be utilized in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments or as a separate modality, and multiple areas of involvement can be treated during one office visit. The number of treatments required depends on the condition.

To learn more about how this exciting technology might help you or someone you know, call the office to schedule a complimentary consultation. We’ll sit down and review your health history and see if you, too, can benefit from this innovative treatment modality.
